"Sing-alongs... stage-dives... and
loud music... the three
things that make hardcore/punk one of the most difficult genres of music to
photograph. You basically take a couple hundred suburban rebels, throw
them in a room together. Then, put some of them on stage playing
instruments, and let the rest of the audience go crazy... Then you have
to try to photograph it... It sounds a lot easier than it is... Broken
cameras are not a rare thing thing when you have instruments flailing,
feet flying by, and kids piling on to sing their favorite verses... You
find yourself in the middle of a whirlwind, and the prize is the
pictures that are taken for others to see & appreciate later... The
blood, sweat, and tears all just happen to come with the
territory..."
